Pre-Conferences scheduled prior to the Galaxy III Conference on Monday, September 15, 2008 are described below.
Note that each Pre-Conference has a registration fee separate from the Galaxy III Conference

ESP Pre-Conference
"Leading Change for a Healthy Organization"
This pre-conference is sponsored by the Epsilon Sigma Phi Professional Development Committee. Kathleen Lingle, of the Alliance for Work-Life Progress, will be the keynote speaker for the pre-conference. Attendees will learn a new, integrative model for a total rewards strategy that serves as a 21st century roadmap for leaders responsible for attracting, retaining and motivating today's workforce.

NEAFCS Pre-Conferences
NEAFCS is offering three Pre-Conference Workshops on Monday, September 15, 2008, covering timely topics and brought to you by recognized subject matter experts. The Workshops will be presented from 9:30 AM until 2:30 PM.
Each NEAFCS Pre-Conference Workshop can accept up to 100 registrants. All Workshops are offered on a first-come, first-served basis to all Extension association educators and interested non-Extension professionals. Registration
fee
for these workshops is
separate from any
Galaxy III Conference
fee.

America's children are in crisis because of the obesity pandemic. NAE4-HA Pre-Conference
NAE4-HA will offer a
Geospatial Users Pre-conference
on Monday, September 15, from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., in the Marriott Hotel.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Position Systems (GPS) technologies continue to expand into Extension programming nationwide. The Geospatial pre-conference experience, sponsored by the NAE4-HA GPS/GIS Task Force, is a chance for Extension Educators to work with GIS /GPS in a supportive environment that will provide learning, practice time, resources to take home, and a chance to interact with 4-H professionals already working in the field. This hands-on, interactive workshop will:
• Provide an interactive overview to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS);
• Learn to transfer data from a GPS unit to a GIS program;
• Present and practice ideas that experienced technology educators can use in their Extension programming;
• Provide users with a computer based GIS experience that will include downloading points from GPS, converting points to simple shape files, and creating a presentation map;
• Use ArcView 9 import data layers, manipulate basic shape files, add points to maps, and attach data to maps;
• Introduce users to other on-line geospatial resources, other Extension materials and opportunities.
