The CSR initiative brings together grassroots community-based CSR teams and campus specialists to identify and address community-identified issues. Through these collaborative relationships, CSR team members work with campus staff to assess community needs through a comprehensive community needs assessment. Results from the assessment help CSR teams and campus specialists identify needed programs and services, and CSR campus specialists recruit experienced faculty and staff to design, develop, pilot, and evaluate targeted research-based programs.
CSR efforts have led to initiatives encouraging the positive emotional and financial involvement of fathers (14-25 years of age) in the lives of their children through the It's My Child Too program. Another project that grew out of CSR efforts is the Communities Against Rape (CARe) initiative. The Communities Against Rape Initiative (CARe) is a statewide collaboration that facilitates and supports the development and implementation of programs/efforts to prevent sexual assault and rape of youth in communities across Indiana.
