THE MEETING ADVANTAGE

CONTENT: A three-step process for effective/productive meetings. Starting with thorough preparation in a FRONTLOAD procedure; followed by a careful selection of methods in the meeting proper (FOCUS); and concluding with clear accountabilities for action items in FOLLOW THROUGH. Included is a Meeting Advantage Planner (MAP) that guides the process.

OBJECTIVE: Purdue people spend a lot of time in meetings, and these meetings can be high-energy interactions that achieve substantial results. Let’s start having meetings that produce a feeling of accomplishment and are highly beneficial of our time!

LOGISTICS: Group size is ideally between 5 and 15 individuals. Time needed is five hours, which can be subdivided as convenient for the Group. Total cost to the sponsoring area is $100/participant.

FOCUS: ACHIEVING YOUR HIGHEST PRIORITIES

CONTENT: This is a study of time management, Covey style. The Time Matrix shows the power of applying an Importance focus rather than an Urgency focus. The Productivity Pyramid shows how change in time management is motivated by a recognized need to apply greater attention to identified core values. Goal setting is aided by weekly, in addition to daily, scheduling. Time planning systems may be electronic, paper, or hybrid…depending on individual needs.

OBJECTIVE: Goethe said it most powerfully, “Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least”. Work-Life balance involves understanding my principal roles in Life, and applying my time on my “first things”. When my daily activities are aligned with my highest priorities, I have a strong sense of self esteem and inner peace.

LOGISTICS: Group size is ideally between 5 and 15 individuals. Time needed is five hours, which can be subdivided as convenient for the Group. Total cost to the sponsoring area is $34/participant.

THE 4 DISCIPLINES OF EXECUTION

CONTENT: The process of disciplines has the major parts of: Selecting one or two Wildly Important Goals (WIGS) to focus on for a given time; Designing a great visual to show how the work is progressing; Defining the new and different beliefs/behaviors required to achieve the WIGS; and Establishing the details of meeting/reporting to hold everyone accountable. Visual tools are provided to facilitate the process.

OBJECTIVE: A great deal of persistence is required to carry through on a major new goal. Often, the strategy part is completed but we bog down in the implementation. This Seminar gives the necessary guidance for success…it isn’t easy, but it is achievable.

LOGISTICS: Group size ideally between 5 and 15 individuals. Time needed is five hours, which can be subdivided as convenient for the Group. Total cost to the sponsoring area is $72/participant.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

CONTENT: A four-step process is required: Visualize; Plan; Implement; and Close. In the first two steps, great emphasis is placed upon the brain-storming technique commonly called “mind mapping”…using a whole brain cognitive style. Planning and implementing tools in both electronic and paper form are included.

OBJECTIVE: You will learn to: gain cooperation and buy-in from your organization and team members; develop strategies and skills to manage a project’s progress; identify and avoid potential problems and issues; and, reduce time spent back-tracking and redoing a plan.

LOGISTICS: Group size is ideally between 5 and 15 individuals. Time needed is five hours, which can be subdivided as convenient for the Group. Total cost to the sponsoring area is $100/participant.

BUILDING TRUST

CONTENT: The COSTS of low trust within any team may be very substantial. Understanding this fact motivates us to raise the Personal Trustworthiness Factor, and its components of Character and Competence. Next, we focus on Interpersonal Trust, and the concept of the Emotional Bank Account. Finally, the team is asked to define and meet explicit trust challenges…and it happens!

OBJECTIVES: Effective work on a team begins with trustworthy individuals working in high trust relationships. Without the high trust, synergy is actually negative, and the team is inherently dysfunctional. Empowerment doesn’t happen; knowledge isn’t shared; stress levels are alarming; and people wish they were somewhere else. Let’s decide to eliminate these negatives!

LOGISTICS: Group size ideally between 5 and 15 individuals. Time needed is five hours, which can be subdivided as convenient for the Group. Total cost to the sponsoring area is $30/participant.

CHAMPIONING DIVERSITY

CONTENT: What is Diversity; Why is Diversity Important; The Effect of Stereotypes; The Importance of Belief Systems; and Implementation Strategies. Interactive exercises are powerful and numerous, and the famous “Eye of the Storm” video is included. We understand the importance of complying with the law…what are the other critical importances of diversity?

OBJECTIVE: To learn and practice the cornerstones of diversity, including: Synergy can be achieved only when everyone is working together; Everyone adds value and must have an equal opportunity to contribute and achieve; Diversity of thought must occur at all levels of the organization; and, Diversity solutions are best situation specific. Strategies are proposed which allow everyone to become a Diversity Champion.

LOGISTICS: Group size is ideally between 5 and 15 individuals. Time needed is 5 hours, which can be subdivided as convenient for the Group. Total cost for the sponsoring area is $50/participant.

THE PRESENTATION ADVANTAGE

CONTENT: A three-step process for effective speaking. First, identify quality presentation standards; second, focus on the audience as your customers; third, use an effective process and a tool to develop quality presentations. A paper/electronic tool (Presentation Planner) is included.

OBJECTIVES: There are 2 of these…planning the content, and delivering with skill. What do I wish the listener to know? to feel? to do? How do I project confidence in my delivery through eye contact, facial expression, gestures, movement, appearance, and voice? Finally, how do I manage presentation stress?

LOGISTICS: Group size ideally is between 5 and 15 individuals. Time needed is five hours, which can be subdivided as convenient for the Group. Total cost for the sponsoring area is $100/participant.

A paper/electronic tool (Document Planner) is included, as is a comprehensive paper/electronic Style Guide.

OBJECTIVE: To facilitate writing which is clear, concise and correct. What do I wish the reader to know? To feel? To do? Do I understand the 10-second rule? How about the State-Support-Summarize principle? Can I avoid Gobbledygook?

LOGISTICS: Group size is ideally between 5 and 15 individuals. Time needed is five hours, which can be subdivided as convenient for the Group. Total cost to the sponsoring area is $100/participant.

THE 4 ROLES OF LEADERSHIP

CONTENT: The 4 roles of: Pathfinding; Aligning; Empowering; and Modeling are defined by responding to a few critical questions. For example, for Pathfinding, 1. Who’s important to us, and what matters most to them? 2. What is our purpose, what matters most to us, and how will we act toward one another? 3. Where are we going, and how will we get there? Excellent videos, and interactive exercises reinforce the principal points of learning.

OBJECTIVE: Participants learn the guiding principles for each role. For example, for Aligning, 1. The parts affect the whole, and the whole affects the parts. 2. Organizations are perfectly aligned to get the results they get. Leaders, who work ON the system and do the right things, are contrasted to managers, who work IN the system and do things right.

LOGISTICS: Group size ideally is between 5 and 15 individuals. Time needed is ten hours, which can be subdivided as convenient for the Group. Total cost to the sponsoring area is $72/participant.
