Logging into SAM
- SAM now authenticates using your career account (Outlook) username and password.
- If you cannot get in immediately with that username and password you probably have not synchronized your career account password OR you are attempting to use your old SAM password. SAM now authenticates off of your career account. Please try to log in using the same username and password that you use for your email.
- If you cannot get in with that password follow the steps below.
- Go to
http://exchange.purdue.edu and log in to your email account.
- Then go to Options in the left hand column
- Scroll down the right hand column to “Change Password”
- Click Change Password
Complete the information requested in
the dialogue box which opens.
- Your domain name is onepurdue
- Your account is your login name
- The old password is the one you use everyday to get into your email
- You can use the same password for the new password if it meets the criteria below.
- Once you have entered the new password twice Click OK
A dialogue box should come up
saying you have successfully reset your
password.
- This should synchronize your account across the Purdue system and
allow you to log in to the SAM website and work.
- Password criteria: (For best results, be certain your
password meets the following criteria.)
- Must be at least 7 characters long.
Recommended
password length is 7-8 characters.
- Must contain at
least 1 letter.
- Must contain at
least 1 number or punctuation mark.
- Must contain more
than 4 unique characters.
- Must contain at
least 3 different types of characters (uppercase letter,
lowercase letter, number, punctuation mark)
If your password does not adhere to the above criteria, it
may not properly propagate to all appropriate systems and
services.

information is optional. The information is used for your CV.
- Curriculum Vitae under the Generate Reports menu area. This allows you to choose different sections for generating a CV from the information that you have put into SAM. Once the report has been generated you can export it as a text .rtf file, Adobe .pdf file, or an Excel .xls file.

Faculty, Ext. Specialist and Others.
- NRC Assessment report under Generate Reports menu area provides data from SAM in a format that you may use to help fill out the National Research Council's 2006 Assessment of Research Doctorate Programs Faculty
Questionnaire.
- Integrated Reporting for Extension Educators and Faculty, Ext. Specialist and Others. This is a new reporting area which replaces the Engagement menu option.

Changes in Version 2 for 2007 - Extension Educators now enter their
reporting information into the Integrated Reporting menu option. The
Engagement menu option is being eliminated. Only information needed
for Federal reports is now being collected. This change has streamlined the
reporting system and has changed some of the reports that is generated in
SAM under the Generate Reports menu option. Legacy data is still
accessible but in read only status.
